Asalaam aleikum you boss ladies who read this segment every Wednesday. I am actually quite proud that this segment is more popular than the fashion posts. Mama is proud haha. You all know her as a fashion influencer, advocate for Modestymovementke, fashion blogger Nasra Nuralain. I wanted to feature her on the blog because i recognize a fellow winning woman. So read more to find out a thing or two you didn't know about her before.
1. Tell us a little about yourself, who is Nasra?
Nasra is a Modest lover,a trained journalist and Co-Founder of the_nuralains collection that was started late last year.
As I am a trained journalist and also a fashion lover,I found blogging to be the best avenue to bring both my passions to life.
2. What is it that you do as a career?
At the moment I'm a freelance journalist.I do Voice overs on documentaries, feature stories and the like.Apart from that,I'm also into entrepreneurship,I've partnered with my sister to create timeless pieces that will be launching soon InshaAllah.
3. What’s the hardest and the best part about your job?
Actually there are no challenges since freelancing is more like Being your own boss,so occasionally you go out and do stories that you love doing, rarely do you answer to anyone,So i can't really complain much about it.
The blog Nasra Nuralain is a Modest fashion blog that I started early 2015, with the sole purpose of inspiring ladies out there to be both elegant and modest in their way of dressing.
5. In moments of self-doubt or adversity, how do you build yourself back up?
I can't really say,I'm a strong person since I fall down more often but one thing that makes me have hope is knowing there's a higher power that's behind everything and we all know things happen for a reason whether good or bad.
6. What does success mean to you?
Success doesn't mean you don't face hardship now that you're successful,Every success comes with its bunch of challenges and the sooner one realizes that the better.
Success to me is not the the end game but really every positive step I take towards achieving what I intended.
7. What quote or saying or book do you live by or rather inspires you?
Damn!I love quotes ,I have a bunch of quotes that I truly live by,the first one being 'Good things comes to those who wait' I can't really remember who came up with that but this quote has really inspired me to try and be patient(I'm one helluva impatient person sometimes )
The second one that I learnt the other day is
"Do or do not there is no try" this basically means there's no in-between in doing something,If you set out to do something then do it to your utter best or don't do it at all.
...
I live by the teachings of the Quran,I may not be perfect and all but I sure admire everything that's in this holy book and my advice to anyone out there is to try as much as possible to be reading it once in a while if not always and I'm pretty sure they'll see their life change for the better.
8. Which of your traits are you most proud of, why?
Loyalty! I can get overly loyal to even strangers at times(lol).Believe it or not I've been back stabbed so many times that I had to learn how to discern the loyal ones from the not so loyal ones and I also learnt to keep my loyalty to the deserving inner circle. This trait right here has taught me a lot.
9. What characteristic do you most admire in other women, career women or otherwise?
I admire ladies who work so tirelessly for what they believe in,Ladies who no matter what the situation never give up.
10. What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received in your life and what advice would you give to girls who look up to you?
My mother once told me to think about what I have before complaining about what is out there for me.You don't deserve to be successful, you only get success because you put in the work.
I would tell them to follow their dreams however absurd it sounds, to always follow their passion and strive to do better.Don't just do something because you want to do something,do it because you love it,that's the only way you're going to achieve the success that you're dying to have.
has nasra see this?
